It's an idea that's new to me, as well, basically taken from fantasy romance.
But I think the term expresses what would truly help - a person to lean on, to help ground myself and let go of fears and panic.
Autistic brain can be so awesome and bright - but also fall to fear and illogical dispair. Someone or something to moderate the dark would be wonderful and so... helpful.
