The Ministry of Finance has signed a memorandum of understanding with the American University in Dubai (AUD) and the British Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) within the framework of the project to build financial and accounting capacities for government employees, which is part of the government's strategic partnership initiative with leading international and local institutions to achieve global excellence in public finance and sustainable development. The signing ceremony was attended by Younis Hajj Al Khouri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, Mirem Mohammed Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for Government Financial Management, Dr. Kyle Long, President of the American University in Dubai, and Malik Serri, Regional General Manager for the Middle East at ACCA, along with several ministry and university officials. Al Khouri emphasized the importance of this cooperation, saying that the signing of the memorandum of understanding embodies our continued commitment to developing financial capabilities in the federal government through specialized training programs that enhance the skills of financial employees and develop their expertise in line with global financial sector developments. For his part, Dr. Long expressed his happiness with the strategic partnership with the Ministry of Finance, emphasizing that it aims to enhance the financial capabilities of specialists in various sectors within the federal government. He added: "We are living in a transformative era in the field of financial management, driven by artificial intelligence and advanced financial technology, and through our current collaboration, we aim to improve financial management operations and decision-making, which will directly benefit the government and all stakeholders, and we are confident that the partnership will have a significant positive impact on both financial professionals and the government." Malik Serri expressed his joy with the cooperation with the ministry in this important initiative, saying: "The ACCA certification is designed to meet international public sector accounting standards and sustainability, to provide participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to face the challenges of implementing international accounting standards based on the principle of sustainability, as accountants and financial specialists play a crucial role in helping federal entities adapt to the required sustainable practices to avoid resource depletion and ensure long-term success, and build a more sustainable future. The 'Sustainability Certificate for Financial Professionals' will enable financial managers to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to take on a leading role in matters related to financial sustainability in federal entities."
