NPR would have no reason to hide such information from the lab because the expectation is the lab would run tests and report results back to NPR. In this case the lab management has stepped outside the norms and contacted the milk producer to ask for “permission” to run the tests. I’m putting permission in quotes because once the milk is sold to a customer, NPR in this case, the milk producer has no rights to dictate the use of the milk.
The lab has gone way outside the boundaries on this one by refusing to test and in addition refusing to send the samples to a different laboratory.
