Post troubles, because of all property destruction, housing prices here were ridiculously low. I tried to get my folks to invest and they just didn't have the cop on to realise it was a goldmine. The house I rented in '99 was valued at £19k and bringing in £800 in rent per month from 4 students. By 2020, despite the 08 crash, same house was valued at close to £200,000, with four students paying close £2400 in monthly rents.
It makes me cry when I think about how much rent I've pissed away on other peopes mortgages. If I'd had any cop on myself, I'd have paid a deposit with mu student loan, got others in to help cover the monthly payments and I'd be sitting on my diamon encrusted throne by now.
