I joke about Adam Curry but the truth is I just want him to find something that makes him happy again. I used to throw the podcast on because they were having fun. Eventually that dropped to 50% sometime between quitting weed and announcing his conversion. I hope someday it goes back up to 100%.

Being a Christian shouldn’t be a joyless experience where you find reasons to dislike everything and where you do nothing but emanate stress. Being a Christian should be liberating like when you leave a bad job and started a new adventure. It might not be easier or even more fun, but it should be important enough that you look back at each day glad you did it. I have seen plenty of people who turn to God and that’s great but they think they can’t have fun. They’ll never phrase it that way. This is what it looks like from an outsider’s perspective.

The hate against memes reminds me of an overreaction years ago I had where I felt I had to stop wasting time on video games and didn’t play for a few years. Ultimately I realized that this was dumb and it was stunting my ability to relate to others, much like refusing to read anything but religious texts would stunt your ability to empathize and communicate. I was wrong, and while I game less now than I did in 1999, I’m still a better man and better Christian because I spent 200 hours following Pyra’s ass across a screen.
