Voici un petit fil à ce sujet, car la question est loin d’être absurde ! Si l’effet des éruptions sur le #climat est bien connu, le climat et la météo peuvent eux aussi avoir un impact sur l’activité volcanique. La question est également loin d’être nouvelle. D’après mes recherches, elle remonte au moins aux observations du naturaliste Georg Forster lors du second voyage du capitaine Cook. Voici ce qu’il écrivait en 1777 à propos du volcan Yasur (actuel Vanuatu), dans A Voyage Round the World :
“We remarked that this was the second time the explosions of the volcano had recommenced after showers of rain; and were therefore led to suspect, that the rain in some measure excites these explosions, by promoting or encreasing the fermentation of various mineral substances in the mountain.”
