Back in the day, we used the term "cargo cult programming" to describe developers who would look up existing examples and jam them together until they achieved what was wanted, without really understanding what was going on. The results were terrible--broken, unreadable code with dead code blocks and inefficiencies galore.

Now we have "vibe coding". This is just like cargo cult programming except first you play a game of "telephone" with an LLM who pretends to understand what you're asking for.
