I'm a unique case as I'm a confident big kid. The trick is to encourage those big kid traits while balancing out the things I can't or shouldn't do on my own.
For example, being happy that I did things on my own like getting dressed or cleaning my room.
Not letting me change my own diapers or pull ups. Praising me when dry, supporting me when not, giving supporting words like "Didn't quite make it..but let's try again ok? No big deal."
