There are practical consequences for all similar "ideas" in this field.

E.g., we don't even have the most basic stuff like a free, non-commercial Time Stamping Authority (TSA) service - while the protocol is public, the requirements for running a TSA are so comprehensive that the "free" implementations aren't trusted by anybody because they do not meet those requirements.

Which, in turn, leads to applications like resorting to the bitcoin, earth-burning blockchain as a de-facto "reliable" timestamping backend.

To the best of my knowledge, the only institution that ever managed to escape a similar hell was the Let's encrypt CA, and it ultimately depended on the help and agreement of big corporations and an existing CA for that.
