I have a 4TB WD My Passport SSD plugged in to my Mac for CarbonCopyCloner to use as a backup drive. It spends all day unmounted, just plugged in. And it's warm, almost hot to the touch. WTF is with that. What is it doing sitting there unmounted that in needs to burn enough energy to heat up like that?
