I use the mastodon filters and it just shows the post as if it was cw'd with the name of your filter (so you can still see who posted it and the content if you uncolllapse the post), it also works for comments. I use one to filter things about politics (because it's getting very overwhelming) and it work very well for that

That's my experience and I don't know if you've tried it or not, but if not, it may be good to try it
