Authorized fetch was introduced by Mastodon in 2019. In theory, it would prevent blocked users on other sites from seeing your posts. It would also prevent entire blocked servers from seeing your posts.While I'm definitely pro-moderation and content curation instance by instance, Authorized Fetch should not exist towards such ends: remote servers, and users on remote servers, should not be dictated to. This is not how the Internet works and this is not how the Fediverse should work. Blocks should be filters instituted on the blocking instance and should not extend outside of that instance. Remote servers and remote users should not be blocked from accessing or engaging with public content, regardless of blocks.
