Considering all that’s happened in the social mediascape over the past few days and weeks, and all the new people who have joined us recently here on Mastodon, please allow me to introduce myself:
I’m a man of wealth and taste. 🎩
Well, no, not really… I mean, I am a man, but I’m far from wealthy, and many people are likely to question my taste.
All kidding aside, I’m a retired NGO executive doing my best to stay informed and to help raise awareness about environmental crises, climate breakdown, and the rapacious, murderous impact of greedy capitalists and the politicians they own.
Why the odd name? Back in the day, empires placated their citizens with "bread and circuses." Now we get fast food and apps. But nothing is truly different — it’s all still meant to distract us from what's REALLY happening.
