I know about the Cantillon Effect within borders, but was thinking there must also be one between them.
Let’s say the US prints $4T through some bill, and a bunch of already super rich Cantillonaires see their net worth go up by many billions. Can’t they take that newly created wealth and buy foreign assets with it?
Now of course eventually the printing will cause a currency devaluation commensurate with it, so they’ll get less for their money. But if there’s any lag between the printing and the full commensurate devaluation, I would think the Cantillonaires can pounce in foreign markets too.
