Fediverse apps that are designed to facilitate and separate out different kinds of social experiences. Some people are here trying to have serious conference discussions (techies, academics, journalists), while others are trying to hang out at a virtual speakeasy (shitposters, food photographers etc). These are both legitimate uses, but at present they bleed into each other in ways that tend to confuse and annoy people.
