Oh wow, yeah, that is not at all normal. We use multiple distros every day, this is a new one. Noted this is Ubuntu 24.04.
I assume this is 24.04.2 with the 6.11 kernel? We've seen some pain with the older than 6.13.5 kernels. To rule out a hardware fault, I'd check against Fedora 41 (fully updated) if you have a spare drive to drop in...(cont)
