See that diamond shaped pattern that emerges in the middle of the scarf? That’s an effect called pooling that happens with some hand dyed yarn. It’s not pooling at the top or bottom because my tension changed too much for the pattern to emerge. Some people don’t like pooling - it can make for weird streaks on sweaters - but I think it’s great for scarfs and hats. Yarn listings sometimes mention if it’s a non-pooling dye pattern, but you’ll learn to spot that kind of yarn too.
I am very stoned, very smug, and so much younger in the second pic. Fall 2019: four years ago but also several lifetimes ago.
