I wonder if it rises to the woke levels of
- Micro aggression
- Exclusionary
- Discriminatory
- Unethical
- inequity
Certainly, it's yet another example of stealing the choice of users to determine their own destinies and removing their freedoms promised under the philosophy of FOSS.
Those cowardly bastards who led the dev of #Tusky learned their lesson the hard way when their nefarious hard-coded blocks within the client itself got them removed from the Google Play Store at least twice for similar malware practices a couple of years back for breaking the laws concerning truth in advertising, spawning a multitude of forks that supplanted that client in the PlayStore; reducing their ratings from that of a near perfect rating to a measly one or two stars for such deceptive business practices a couple of years back.
At the very least, it's a perfect example of self-exclusion, serving only to further isolate by painting themselves into the proverbial corner of isolation.
Hm.... maybe a subroutine that checks for this upon failures to boost, quote-post, or reply with the textual error of something like: "That server instance has elected to block themselves from large aspects of the Fediverse" would help avoid people becoming frustrated by such dystopian actions that are detrimental to the network?
Anyway, thanks for the heads up :)
