I’ve been a corpo scum swe at a FAANG company for a decade. I used to run arch Linux for years on my only work laptop. There was a vibrant community of engineers who worked on keeping our devices compliant, while also giving us the tool we wanted to use most.
We had an oncall called “shit Linux users”. As a member of the rotation you’d keep an up to date usb key to pacstrap a work device and if someone borked their laptop, they’d page you and you’d sit with them for emotional support 😅
