Look the thing people don't get about Trump is he has no concept of "friends." There's servants, sycophants, victims, and enemies. Even when he backs down, he will never show it as such.
In many ways he's living a script that hasn't changed in decades and it works for him because people play along, or think they can exploit him, but they don't get the script.
