I was wrong about Wikipedia.
Back in the day when it first came out, I saw it grabbing out of copywrite enciclopedias as seed articles, and I saw Jimmy Wales, who is a dick, being a dick, and thought to myself "this is a decent idea, run by a dick, he's going to wreck it" I also had a few run-ins with bad editors who were more interested in gatekeeping than improving articles. Those two things really put me off.
But it looks like the pedants beat Jimmy, and it's turned out pretty good!
