I made the mistake of listening to The Daily NYT episode about Threads. The Meta adulation and hand waviness about Mastodon made me angry so I had to turn it off.
I don't really know why mainstream media seem incapable of understanding the fediverse. It's like it doesn't fit their mental model of how media could work, and they lack an imagination.
