Though strictly speaking I don’t think it is storing energy in the physics sense, because a miner is technically turning low entropy energy into high entropy energy to earn bitcoin, but there is no reverse process. Maybe it’s better to say we are putting entropy into permanently sealed (though divisible) bottles. Oh and there are many different bottle side sizes but there will only ever be 21M of them.
