Vibe Thinkboi Math:
1 new Nostrich = 1,000 new Bitcoiners.
Why?
Reed’s Law (2^N) > Metcalfe’s law (N^2)
Group-forming networks allow for the formation of clusters that scale value faster than other networks. Reed saw a clear multiplier effect of value from clusters because groups enable easy communication.
Group forming networks according to Reed increase in value at a rate of 2^N where N is the total number of nodes in the network. Metcalfe’s law is N^2.
The reason Reed suggested his formula instead of Metcalfe’s for what was the most valuable network was because the number of possible groups within a network that supports easy group communication is much higher than 1, so that the total number of connections in the network (network density), is not just a function of the total number of nodes (Metcalfe’s law). It’s a function of total number of nodes plus the total possible clusters.
Said differently, Matcalfe’s law doesn’t speak to the strength of naturally forming group dynamics among people. Nodes on nostr are the people with an already natural proclivity to form and strengthen group.
Now imagine groups formed around evangelical topics like free speech, freedom money and Bitcoin circular economies.
