I miss having a house bird so much sometimes. We had a rescue rooster who was one day from being culled when we got him at 6 weeks old, and we had no other young'uns to integrate him with, so his quarantine month ended up stretching out for much longer.
He would cry and cry if I didn't sit there with my hand on his back with a sheet covering most of the crate till he fell asleep. Most nights it wouldn't take more than about 15 minutes, but some nights it was harder to get him to settle. I'd be lying on the floor with my hand on his back for 45 minutes.
Part of the drama yesterday was that I didn't open both doors on the coop, per usual. I broke the routine, silly me!
