I do use the internet to escape reality, and there's nothing wrong with that. I also use books, films, tv shows, and games.

But I can't help thinking that those who say the internet isn't real simply haven't explored the right places. For example: just yesterday, thanks to fedi friends, I learnt about the crisis in Kenya from people who are right there, on the ground, as it was happening. There's no way that could happen without social media.
