First, the idea that Mars, Earth, and the asteroid *happened* to align just right such that an orbital slingshot around Mars would get the asteroid to Earth. Of course, the precision of that alignment doesn't need to be perfect, but it needs to be within the bounds of the asteroid impulse relative to mass, which still seems pretty darn coincidental.
