I'm a guitarist, and I always admired Santana for his fierce dedication to making space for Latinx music in the mostly white-co-opted-blues-bro world of his era. And I absolutely love his playing. It breaks my heart that he has hatred for people like me, but that's the story of being #trans I'm afraid. Finding out your heroes hate you. I can hold those two truths quite well, as I have with so many people who were much closer to me.
