I have used IPFS for this, but nowadays the public gateways are too slow to be usable or shutting up shop. Inevitable - incentives for gateways were never there.
Private gateways work well.
On-device nodes don't, for me, I should probably try again.
Permissionless no-KYC global media sharing via hash / CID is still not as easy as I'd hoped it would become...
