From week 1, the safest and most efficient way of releasing the hostages was to make a peace deal. Anything less than that is a betrayal to the ones who are already dead and to the ones still alive. But pursuing revenge through a genocide was just more important than the lives of their own compatriots. This means that to Israel’s apologists, the death of innocent Palestinians has simply been more important, more satisfying even, than freeing Israeli hostages.
