Mothereffinmothereffer!!
Been pouring over input and output html 'tidy' HTML trying to work out why the effing hell the effing tidied version renders different to the original. Fiddling with whitespace, tags, playing with the tidy config.
The seemingly innocuous reason was staring me in the face every time I opened the mothereffing file.
The 'tidy' version has <!DOCTYPE html> added at the top.. that's it, that's the whole cause of the rendering difference. Just... eh, what, wtf, I hate html.
