You're clearly referring to some specific place and time, I don't know off hand what it is but I do know that there was no global society to collapse at that time, no universal market society, so whatever you're referring to doesn't seem likely to be relevant to what we're talking about.
Anyway, I think we are in the midst of societal collapse right now. It just is, I don't have to advocate it. Best I've been able to figure out to do is try to help people understand why so much of what we've been taught about states, rule of law, capitalism, etc are just wrong.

Been there, done that. It isn't working, and like you said: there is not enough time.
But more importantly, I've come to the conclusion that the ends do not justify the means; that in fact the means *are* the ends. So I cannot endorse the tweaking of means that I do not believe are justified.
