The Social Security Administration does not issue you a new SS# even if your number is being used by others. Any other reporting to them under your # will be set up under another account. Always make sure your annual SS Statement (which should be mailed to you or gathered on-line) reflects your income for the year and deposits. Errors must be corrected thru your employer. Ugly business!
