They basically turn lightning payments/tips into Nostr events that can then be better integrated into a client’s UI. Right now you click a tip button in someone’s profile (or snort even has a tip button on each post), you send the sats and that’s it. The only feedback you get is from your wallet saying it sent. With zaps the payment returns a receipt that allows the client to do things like show how many sats were received on each individual note, or insert a tip into a user’s notifications along with who sent it, etc. It will make lightning tips feel even more natively integrated with the experience here.
