I have about half a dozen Oregon grape shrubs (Mahonia aquifolium) in my front yard; they're full of berries at the moment, probably a few weeks from being ripe. They're really too tart to eat by themselves, but they ARE edible. This year I've decided to make something from the berries. I've seen lots of recipes for jams/preserves (plain berry, some mixed with apple), for wine...and one for simple syrup to make oregon grape & basil mojitos, which sounds like a thing I need to try!
