I disagree. When art becomes a state sponsored activity like it is today, its purpose is to make a statement. Art students of the past century have been trained to think this way, but this is not natural, its part of the totalitarian agenda. The only reason this kind of art has value today it's a tax shelter for the wildly wealthy, a vehicle for propaganda, and a counterintelligence tool to demoralize the masses; the market confuses this with artistic success.
