Today in Catalonia the kids receive presents from the Tió.
The Tió is a smiling log with a hat that nests in the family's living room some weeks before. The family feeds him, and, on Christmas day, the kids in the house beat him with a stick while they sing a rhyme, until he poops the presents.
The rhyme goes like this:
Poop, Tió,
hazelnuts and nougat.
Don't poop herrings,
because they're too salty.
Poop nougat,
because it's more delicious!
And I think it's beautiful.
