You *dont* send yout kids to work in the coal mines, as society became rich, people sent their kids to school instead, laws about child labor didnt come for decades after kids left the workforce.
How about a mutually accepted boundary that I have my house and you have yours, I dont tell you how to live and you dont tell me how to live? See, anything else REQUIRES violence, so you arent saying "mutually agree", you are saying "do what I say ot else".
