Because they are both direct creations of the first communist international, and probably chose the name together there ^^
In France, they used to be very political and basically an organ of the communist party, but their role drastically changed after WWII.
They got some para-governmental powers and a lot of crap they did was tolerated by the government (up and including to stockpiling war weapons) in exchange for getting out of electoral politics entirely.
And their soviet controllers at the time actually agreed with that compromise because they saw them more as a reverse-gladio force than as a revolutionary force, their role being to be an enormous pain in the ass and 5th column if the cold war ever got hot and NATO forced France’s integration.
