丝 in Chinese means silk, it can also mean thread, just like thread in Reddit.
路 in Chinese means road, or you can think it as some kind of relays. The essence of nostr is you can only connect with people if you share the same relay with your friends. You need to have a “road” between you and your friends to transmit note along the “road”.
