I know, dawg. I read it. The train crash (occurring in ‘College Town’ Ohio) happens in like the first 5 minutes of the film. In the book the crash doesn’t take place until almost halfway through—and after a near catastrophic airplane accident.
There is a slow build-up of existential dread, overlayed by a sort of oblivious attention to minutiae and trivialities by the characters—who all seem to spread misconceptions and fallacies to each other btw.
