But the "git UI"/porcelain is then gluing an abstraction over it that isnt quite fitting: it reuses vocabulary and concepts from older revision control systems. That kinda made sense as a migration path when it was introduced. But these days, it means people need to learn half-obsoleted concepts to understand something just to forget again the part of them that is leaky in git.
