Two basic rules of piano practice that I find easy to forget (since it's much more fun to just play through pieces or improvise a bit):
- Chop the piece up in chunks and practice each chunk individually. Only go to the next when you can play the current chunk
- Practice on a slower tempo until you can play smoothly and then and gradually increase
