SAME! I haven't worn an underwire in decades because my short torso always had them digging painfully into my ribs and armpits. Once I learned that I didn't need a bigger band, I needed a bigger cup, I found the most comfy for me. but the center of ANY bra has never "been flat on my sternum". Not even back in high school.
