I have worked on a source port for the Descent games (those old 6DoF DOS games) for about a decade. They had nearly EVERYTHING tied to the FPS and half of it wasn't properly scaled by time between frames. So you had a lot of that. From physics weirdness, inconsistent damage when bumping into things, shooting through enemies, down to tiny animation issues
