Two deep-red earth Texas small-towners, Mom grew-up Catholic, Dad a Baptist. And THEY were each raised by good folks to be the two best humans I've known.
My sister & I had lots of buffers to the world, but if we asked, they answered. We never knew judgment or cruelty, and everyone was safe in our home.
