A tech career these days is a bit like the "sorting hat" in Harry Potter. You choose (or end up as) a Python developer, you don't get to work on, say, PHP/Laravel. That's it, you're a Python developer forever.
Of course nothing to stop you doing PHP in your spare time, but you won't be hired doing PHP.
I remember maybe 10 years ago jumping between different languages/platforms was far easier, it was expected that a good developer would quickly get up to speed.
