Not sure if I have advertised this before but there is a really nice open source contribution by my company (SAP):
In case you're running your Mac with administrative privileges you might not want to run with them all the time. ^^
With the Privileges.app you can add / activate them only when needed and then remove the privileges afterwards. Neat, isn't it?
