I argue for it based on the fact that, even under the worst conditions, elements of that role are still performed by journalists.
I understand if that doesn't convince other people, and doesn't make other people want to put energy into it.
My personal connection to journalism is the basic reason for my continuing to try to support the positive aspects.
If we eventually get a better form of criticism of power via news, I hope lessons from the death of journalism can contribute.
