It turned out I got their callsign wrong. It was supposed to be "IR2RMAG"! I listened back to the recorder audio. The other station misheard my callsign as "SA5WJU"...
Now that I think about it I actually remeber seeing that on the QMX decoder display, but I didn't trust that the QMX "knew better" than the other operator.
Mistakes happen. I'm glad that I recognize when someone else repeats my callsign. But I think I need to pay attention and make sure all the letters are correct too. That'll come with time, I'm sure.
